Mailbox Monday (currently hosted by Knitting and Sundries) & In My Mail is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday & In My mail can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
These are the ones I got for last week =D Yup THAT many! Got them from friends, publisher, etc =D I'm just worried on how fast I be able to review them.Yeah.. I need to read faster...
Beware of this book. It is cute. It is full with giggles, and it is very addictive series. It brings us the different side of Persephone and Hades famous story. This is actually brilliant! Hades as usual is emo, and Persephone loves emo boys. As a mythological retellings addict, I regardless age, love this book to bits!
If you haven’t start on this series, here’s a background bits. This series features goddess in their teens years, attending “deities school, where the principal happens to be Zeus.
I love it.
Cover. Isn’t that cover so sweet. Hades and Persephone together and all smiles. Just make you feel liek saying.. “all together now”… Awwww….
First Words. A lyrebell ping, signaling the end of another Monday at Mount Olympus Academy.
Quote. Because she couldn’t die – that’s what it means to be immortal, after all – death had always fascinated Persephone.
Persephone The Phony (Goddess Girls #2) By Joan Holub; Suzanne Williams

"What are you reading now and why are you reading it?”
Aphrodite the Beauty; By Joan Holub
Naturally, as a Ancient Greece junkie, I ended up having this book in my hands one day or another. The Greek Gods and Goddess are teenagers and they are attending school with Zeus as the Principal. Aphrodite decided to give Athena a make-over and it backfires. Now nobody seems to pay attention to her and the lime light is now on Athena. It sounds mythically my genre =D
The Literary Blog Hop is organised by The Blue Book Case. It’s a biweekly event for blogs that discuss primarily literary fiction and classics. Hop over the The Blue Book Case if you want to join in!
Robyn asks: What setting (time or place) from a book or story would you most like to visit? Eudora Welty said that, "Being shown how to locate, to place, any account is what does most toward making us believe it...," so in what location would you most like to hang out?
Ancient China, Japan, Greece, Rome and Egypt, Tudors era. Why so many? It’s just I’m into History that much and these are my favorite areas to read into. Fiction or non, it’s good either way. These literature built civilizations and beautiful literature history. I love the attires, the community (well… most of them). These are the setting where everything is historically magical. in one way or another. The way they speak, the cultures oh.. all of them are exotic.
From Lisi Harrison, the New York Times bestselling author of The Clique and Alphas, comes a new series with a fresh twist on high school, romance, and the "horrors" of trying to fit in.
The monster community has kept a low profile at the local high school, but when two new girls enroll, the town will never be the same. Created just fifteen days ago, Frankie Stein is psyched to trade her father's formaldehyde-smelling basement lab for parties and prom.
But with a student body totally freaked out by rumors of monsters stalking the halls, Frankie learns that high school can be rough for a chic freak like her. She thinks she finds a friend in fellow new student Melody Carver-but can a "normie" be trusted with her big secret?
Quote The articles were extremely eye-opening. Not just in Teen Vogue but in Seventeen and CosmoGirl as well. They all were about being yourself, Staying natural, loving your body as it is, and going green! The messages were the exact opposite of Vik and Viv’s.
Why did I pick it up? I didn’t really pick this up to read immediately, more of after a while.. a bit while. *blinks* a lot more of than a while. The cover with the “pink” turned me off big time.
Librarian Muse This is suitable for Secondary school kids, so get your paws on this one for your libraries. Public Libraries should get a few copies of this cause damn, this is one hell of a hot cake piece of fiction.
If you haven’t heard. Tomorrow is Chinese New Year and it is the Year of the Rabbit~~ *wiggles wiggles* Even as I type at the moment, the fireworks are popping outside like crazy. Yes! The celebration is on! Watch out for a new Vlog (YES) from me, cause I be filming a Lion Dance performing somewhere in Brunei this week.
So what’s with the hiatus? I have been very very very busy. Blog spot decided to turn my pre-publish to drafts. EEK! So the story is, I had attended this Symposium of Brunei Literary Resources at University Brunei Darussalam attended by fellow librarians, literary people etc… from within Brunei and overseas. I get to exchange ideas, get insights for some things, tips and tricks when it comes to the subject mentioned.
What interests me the most, was the lecturer from Singapore who priorities the genre of the ‘Folklore’ genre. He explained the importance for community to preserve the genre as it would disappear soon in the near future if we just let it be. What actually saddened me is the absence of written Bruneian folklore since he mentioned that he only found 4 of them. I’m disappointed to actually realize ‘Folklore’ is really dying. My students don’t even know who is Pak Saloi! I know we have more of these stories in oral form but where are they? o.0
I’ve also learnt a few other things like Nobat Diraja (probably going to feature it here in my blog as a side project), study of “Kain Tenunan”, the restoring and studies of Manuscripts, importance of archives… etc etc etc.. oh well. It’s good for readers and good for my career =^_^=
So anyhow.. things would probably turn somewhat normal here in my blog. I have a few books, movies and tv series (?) to post up reviews soon.
