Book Review: The Lost Hero; Rick Riordan

Heroes of Olympus, The, Book One: Lost Hero, The (Int'l Paperback Edition)The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus #1)
by Rick Riordan

genre } children | greek & roman mythology | fantasy
rating } children +
date released } october 12, 2010
edition } Hyperion Book (576 Pages)
ISBN } 142311339X | 978-1423113393

After saving Olympus from the evil Titan lord, Kronos, Percy and friends have rebuilt their beloved Camp Half-Blood, where the next generation of demigods must now prepare for a chilling prophecy of their own:

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Now, in a brand-new series from blockbuster best-selling author Rick Riordan, fans return to the world of Camp Half-Blood. Here, a new group of heroes will inherit a quest. But to survive the journey, they’ll need the help of some familiar demigods.

1) But the thing was the stuffed leopard's head above the fireplace. It looked so real, its eyes seemed to follow Jason. Then it snarled, and Jason nearly leaped out of his skin.

2) "If he's only a head," Jason said, "Where does the food go when he eats?" "Better not to ask," Chiron said.

Why did I pick it up?
I’m an avid fan of Rick Riordan (because he dips in the subject of mythology, which happens to be the genre that I love) so naturally I pick this out, as soon as I can get my paws on it.

My 2 ¢ ♠♠♠♠♠My first thoughts when I grab this book is.. oh I do hope he didn’t wind down on anything. Cause usually authors just don’t keep the pace of their *goodness* when in comes to sequels (Do I dare to call this a sequel?)  Not to worry.. no despair! Rick Riordan has done it again. *sound effects* dun dun dun~ He has a magic touch when it comes to modernizing ancient mythologies.

So here’s my catch if you want to jump into this series and actually enjoy, go back, read the Percy Jackson series if you haven’t. Because you would be very confuse if you haven’t. Regardless of it being a series of it’s own, it still ties itself up with it’s processor series. You be pretty much lost if you haven’t, since the Rick Riordan decided to just jumped into the story and it goes fast, jumping into action.

We have new heroes.. and a missing hero... *gasps* Percy Jackson is missing! So who’s starring in this quests? Amnesiac Jason Grace, beautiful  daughter of a famous actor Piper and Silly Mechanic Leo. Yet, Jason doesn’t seem to fit in Camp Half-Blood. The mystery keeps hold through out the book, revealing bits and pieces.. which still doesn’t fit.

Sure… I get the impression Jason is the leader of this pack, but hey, Leo is my favorite character! Without him, this book would simply just be boring. Leo has the perks in him that really makes him pop out of the pack. The favorite part of the book is when Leo returns to camp riding a huge dragon and when he sprouts out things that make you laugh when you read them.

What you can expect are Romans and Greeks Gods in one book. Giants. The mother of all mothers. Mystery. Thrillers. Humor. Of course, suspense. Only Rick Riordan can pull this off this beautifully. And the hint of probably a new series? Am I having a wishful thinking? But bottom line, I am interested in reading the next installment of this series.
