If you haven’t heard. Tomorrow is Chinese New Year and it is the Year of the Rabbit~~ *wiggles wiggles* Even as I type at the moment, the fireworks are popping outside like crazy. Yes! The celebration is on! Watch out for a new Vlog (YES) from me, cause I be filming a Lion Dance performing somewhere in Brunei this week.
So what’s with the hiatus? I have been very very very busy. Blog spot decided to turn my pre-publish to drafts. EEK! So the story is, I had attended this Symposium of Brunei Literary Resources at University Brunei Darussalam attended by fellow librarians, literary people etc… from within Brunei and overseas. I get to exchange ideas, get insights for some things, tips and tricks when it comes to the subject mentioned.
What interests me the most, was the lecturer from Singapore who priorities the genre of the ‘Folklore’ genre. He explained the importance for community to preserve the genre as it would disappear soon in the near future if we just let it be. What actually saddened me is the absence of written Bruneian folklore since he mentioned that he only found 4 of them. I’m disappointed to actually realize ‘Folklore’ is really dying. My students don’t even know who is Pak Saloi! I know we have more of these stories in oral form but where are they? o.0
I’ve also learnt a few other things like Nobat Diraja (probably going to feature it here in my blog as a side project), study of “Kain Tenunan”, the restoring and studies of Manuscripts, importance of archives… etc etc etc.. oh well. It’s good for readers and good for my career =^_^=
So anyhow.. things would probably turn somewhat normal here in my blog. I have a few books, movies and tv series (?) to post up reviews soon.
