TGIF is hosted by Ginger at GReads!
Question of the Week:
Buy or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?
Putting the cards out, I am a high school librarian, so some of the books I read would be from the library itself. But that’s just on the side, I mostly bought my books, (usually the ones of my favorite author. Support!) But then again, I also get books from my friends or authors to review. I much prefer having my own books rather on loan. But if I could loan, yeah… it’s not I’m keeping everything anyway.

One of the primary reasons I buy books is to support the authors! I do this without second thoughts for authors that I know and love, but I'm a little more careful with new authors.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I would LOVE to make it a habit of borrowing more books from my library. I could really benefit from that, and my wallet would probably cry tears of joy!
I love seeing all these librarians blogging.

Buying books totally helps support authors! And I love my library and my local indie as well. ;)

I'm a librarian in a public library, so I'm a heavy library user. I buy the books I really love after I give them a try --- I've got a great indie store near me, plus a good used bookstore.
ReplyDeleteThe only books I buy new these days are from author friends who have published a new book (I belong to a writing group). Otherwise, I get books from the library, or from Paperbackswap. I like to have a few books in my TBR pile. I'd hate to run out!
