Toward the end of her reign, Hatshepsut allowed Thutmose to play an increasingly prominent role in state affairs; following her death, Thutmose III ruled Egypt alone for 33 years. At the end of his reign, an attempt was made to remove all traces of Hatshepsut’s rule. Her statues were torn down, her monuments were defaced, and her name was removed from the official king list.

ReplyDeleteOh, Hatshepsut! She's so amazing, and I'm so glad that Thutmose III didn't succeed in his defamation.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to read something like this- it sounds like it's pretty brisk, though. Does it simply give their lives in brief since there's so many, or are they fairly good portraits of all one hundred women?
Wow...This is something I can get behind. This is so intense and even better because it's factual. I'll definitely check back for a review. Great teaser! Here is mine @ Silly Little Game Called Life:)

ReplyDeleteI don’t read much non-fiction but this sounds like the type non-fic book I’d enjoy. As the mom of two girls I think a book about influential woman is something I should have on the coffee table when they get a little older. Have to encourage the girl power ;)
Have a great day!
Crazy! Sounds like a really interesting book!
