New age. New beginning and of course, I have my own personal new reading goals for this age (no surprise I be saying the same thing on the 31st December *wink wink*)
I’m not sure if anybody have done this before, but I’m doing it for the main purpose of why I started blogging in the first place (well, make that one of the reasons).
Here’s the thing. I have been visiting a couple of public libraries and as a reader, I’m pretty much disappointed with the collection. *ducks* But… as a school librarian myself, I actually understand why that happened. *coughs*budget*cough* It’s not just the the fact the collection is small, I can’t say not updated, but, let’s say, it doesn’t satisfy my reading needs.
And I like to read alot! (yes I need to review the ones I’ve been reading ASAP. I”m quite having trouble with frequent posting due to my IP being such a *tut*. It is just horrible for the past few days.
I regress. So…
I declared 3 things from now until the rest of my life, as long as I am able to..:
I pledge I will donate a book of my choosing to a public library (of my choice):
1. For every 10 books I’ve read.
2. For every 30 comics I’ve read.
3. For every 50 books I’ve sold
It maybe new, it may be used,
It may be fiction, It may be none,
It may be YA, Children, Horror or any other genre.
As long as as it’s every 10 books read, 30 comics read or 50 sold
The public library will gain a book from me.
Why?
Because I like to give extra work to my fellow librarians at the public library. *smiles kittishly*
*Feels the stare of doom from her colleagues from the public library for saying that*
I’m kidding~!
My point is, I feel like it’s not fair for me to be able to read all these great books here in Brunei, yet there are people who can’t afford to get them or unable to get their paws on them, even though they are book lovers themselves.
Remember: The library is an excellent rental service. Except that you don’t pay for borrowing. Mmm… *cough*lack*cough*of*cough*budget*cough*
This is my way to support “Reading Awareness” and our local public libraries. It’s good reading karma to share good books, don’t you agree? =^_^=
If anybody else wishes to do the same thing, I welcome the effort.
