Every girl who has taken the test has died.

Now it's Kate's turn.

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and now her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.
If she fails...

Quote
"I care," he said in a trembling voice. "I care so much that I do not know how to tell you without it seeming inconsequential compared to how I feel. Even if I am distant at times and seem as if I do not want to be with you, it is only because this scares me, too."

Why did I pick it up?
Kai (Amaterasu Reads) tempted me with the comment “Oh you charming Hades you…XD” in her reading status and I was hooked, just because she said Hades haha.

My 2 ¢ ♠♠♠♠♠I am so in love with this book! And it hasn't come out yet.. physically I mean, which I would love to actually have one in my hands as soon as it does.

Anyhoo, I like to comment about the cover first. That is just brilliant! How many times you can say the book cover is as good as the book you have read inside? Rare right? This is one of those rare moments.

A girl laying down on a beautiful green background of leafy, fern, grass ground, wearing a white Goddess dress. Honestly, that dress alone pulled me in, due to my obviously high interest on mythology. Much to add, the model on that cover just has that “look”. You know that look, where she  looks like she’s carrying all the burden of the world on her shoulders and trying very hard to not be bothered by it. Though she reminds me of Paige from Charmed. Weird…

Ok, on to the book.

Most of us know the story of Hades and Persephone, and… no… there’s no Persephone in this one. There’s another girl name Kate. She has a rough life. No dad and a very sick, dying mother. I feel sorry for her here, nevertheless she is a very strong girl. Then, moving into Eden, Kate meet James, this loner and Ava the school prime cheerleading sort of girl bully who died and live again after Kate has this strange deal with strange man called Henry to an oddly familiar tale of living 6 months in a place called Eden with him. She is then face seven tests to show her worth to be Henry’s companion. She has no choice but to pass it all so her mother could stay alive. Not to forget, there’s a mystery killer on the loose, who kill every “potential” companion for Henry.

This book put me through an emotional roller coaster. It’s been a while, for me to actually find a book that’s worth a keep, and this would be one of them. The twist… I didn’t expect that twist. It tears me up in some part. and 24 hours later after finishing the book, I still feel the emotional roller coaster it has put me through.

One word.

Wow!

I can’t say much, because very chapter has a spoiler, so I’m just going to minimize my review to this. And yes! Get this book when it comes out! Love it! and I can’t wait for the second book to come out.

What turns me off was the fact its publisher is Harlequin Teens. It has been a while I’ve picked up a Harlequin, and it’s due to cheesy romance genre it caters. I guess I got lucky to find this one. So I like to say, to whoever thinks of the same thing as I did, to discard that thought and pick a copy of this one. You wouldn’t regret it.
