Grover was sniffing the wind, looking nervous. He fished out his acorns and threw them into the sand, then played his pipes. They rearranged themselves in a pattern that made no sense to me, but Grover looked concerned.
"That's us," he said. "Those five nuts right there."
"Which one is me?" I asked.
"The little deformed one," Zoe suggested.

Haha! Though there's definitely a sense of tension and foreboding in these lines, the last comment made me smile. I don't know if this is the real meaning in the context of the book, but it sounds like Zoe is ribbing the narrator. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteGreat character names in this one - Grover and Zoe! And a great teaser this week :) Here's my teaser.
ReplyDeleteLMAO great teaser. Thanks for sharing.

The little deformed one! How did he/she take that response?
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is from a Dorothy L. Sayers book:
My tease
LOL That's great! Is this a Y/A or tween book? It sounds like something my son would like to read.

That's a great teaser. Mine is from a new thriller, Three Kisses by Heath Daniels.
ReplyDelete"Soon we will have enough good Syrian Ba’athists trained to take over the operation and send these zealot idiots back to Iraq where they belong. Let them harass their enemy occupiers who dare think they can take over an Arab land and bring in poison foreign ideas like democracy.''
It matters little to me, and it's matter of fact in the book, but just in case people are offended, the book does have gay-lesbian themes/activity. It's part of life!
Sounds very interesting. Like the humor.
ReplyDeleteI love this series!
ReplyDeleteWonder what else the acorns say? Great teaser.
ReplyDeleteIntriging teaser! Mine is here, if yuo want to take a look: http://abookblogofonesown.blogspot.com/2009/09/chapter-18-teaser-tuesday-892009.html
ReplyDeleteSounds like a book I might want to look into!
ReplyDeletelmbo the little deformed one hahaha that was great!
ReplyDeleteI love this teaser - I also love that you included more than two sentences - sometimes that is so helpful. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Teaser! ~ Wendi
I had to laugh at the end of that teaser. It just seems so fitting that the one that asks "which one is me?" is the one that is the pathetic or deformed item.

This series is AWESOME! Just wait until you get to the next one...it's my favorite! =)
