It’s Monday! What are you reading?

its_monday_what_are_you_readingHosted by Book Journey.

Yes, it has been awhile since I actually participate in this meme. Time to get back in the fun!My internet provider has been behaving very horrid, so I hope you could forgive me in the lack of posting. Other than that, I have been having hectic days, that I have resort to either short stories and comics. Real books are very slow, so… bear with me.

Books Read last week:
• Beyond the Fringe #1
• Teen Wolf #1

Books currently reading
• The son of Neptune (Rick Riordan)
• Switched (Sienna Mercer)
• Delia’s Heart (V. C. Andrews)

I’m quite a fiction reader, but I dabble with non-fiction in between. What fancy my reading in this genre is mostly Mythology / Folklore. I like culture hence this seems to be a great source for that. Other than that I like to dabble in self-help books, and the How-to books. Those I must have. in e-book version. Why? have you seen how think them how-to books are sometimes.

Religious books are a must in my family household. Those are daily reads here at home.

Architecture, Science, Technology and History are one also part of the sub-genre I would go for due to being part of my favorites.

A friend at work had influenced me in reading Biography and Autobiography. (and actually enjoying them.)

Teen Wolf #1 (of 3)
By; David Tischman (Writer); Stephen Mooney (Artist)

Scott McCall's life is a living nightmare. Sure, he's co-captain of the Beacon Hills High Lacrosse Team and he's got a hot new girlfriend named Allison who adores him - but Scott was bitten by a werewolf. And every time he gets excited, the claws come out. And the hair. And the fangs. Which might be okay, except Allison's father leads a specially trained group of Hunters who want him dead. Scott's managed to keep his secret safe, but what happens when he can't reverse the process? In this original comic book story based on MTV's new hit series, Scott's stuck - and nothing can change him back. Will he stay a Werewolf forever? The horror begins here.

My 2 Cents
If you like the TV series, this would be a great addition. MTV production. Scott is as juvenile Wolf as he can be, Derek is still a hottie! I can’t wait until #2 comes out so, I could read how the story progress.

Beyond the Fringe

Beyond the Fringe #1
Chapter 1: Peter and the Machine

By: Joshua Jackson (Writer); Jorge Jimenez (Artist)

Are you as excited and surprised as I am? Joshua Jackson wrote this! ♥ Basically, the scenario is what’s going on between season 3 and 4. The first couple pages were familiar scenes from the TV series itself. Don’t let that bother you, after that, the whole thing when “wow”.

Colorful illustrations, love the storyline. I got hook hard and fast. It is a bi-weekly publication for .99 cents. Cheap ehh~ Either way.. I can’t wait to get #02 issue!

Half-Minute Horror
by Susan Rich (Editor), Neil Gaiman, Lesley Livingston, R.L. Stine, Margaret Atwood, Holly Black, James Patterson, Adele Griffin, etc

Half-Minute Horror Summary Via Goodreads
How scared can you get in only 30 seconds? Dare to find out with Half-Minute Horrors, a collection of deliciously terrifying short short tales and creepy illustrations by an exceptional selection of writers and illustrators, including bestselling talents Lemony Snicket, James Patterson, Neil Gaiman, R.L.Stine, Faye Kellerman, Holly Black, Melissa Marr, Margaret Atwood, Jon Scieszka, Brett Helquist, and many more. With royalties benefiting First Book, a not-for-profit organization that brings books to children in need, this is an anthology worth devouring. So grab a flashlight, set the timer, and get ready for instant chills!

My 2 Cents

The title isn’t kidding you. It is actually packed with half minute fictions for you to read and all of them are awesome-ly (Yes it’s that word again, don’t just just miss me?) dark. I love it. Every single page of it. The chicken one was my favorite, cause it’s just evil! *snickers* It comes with what's under your bed, what's hiding in the closet, to yes... chicken vs egg theory. It's quite cute and good for a quick read here and there.

I forgot who actually told me about this book in the middle of extremely busy, bookless weeks (not actually that bookless, since I actually have books coming my way keeping it’s schedule) but whoever it was, thank you! I honestly enjoy reading this one and I’m putting this up in one with the great books to read for reluctant readers, or if you were trying to get a reading fix in your hectic schedule.

October Horror Fest (v 2011) Begins!

1
It’s that time of the year again! Let’s jiggle some Horror fun, fun fun. If you hadn’t notice, I am quite a horror buff. *looks at her past post for this year. Um.. not doing much of that genre reading though. Opps… But doesn’t stop me from playing some horror eve.

Let’s do things quiet different this time, shall we? I’m not sure how much different but I’m thinking, what exactly is a Halloween stand for? All that goes bump in the night and not just ghosts… So let’s play this then. As before, I am doing this in all different media versions, book, film, toys, tv, game, comics…. etc.

So what kind of horrors that would attract me like a moth to a candle?
Anything that includes all sort of supernatural, paranormals and the non-supernaturals. whatever that goes bump in the night.. and day; witches, ghosts, monsters, ghouls, shape shifters, ghosts, zombies, etc. I don't really care much if it’s in the lines of Science Fiction, Thrillers, historical, fantasy, new-age, comedy, dystopia, classics, etc. It would still be in my alley of interests.

You got it people. I am excited as it is. It’s October and I have a reason to read and post anything that race that heart rate and pour the sweat from that head of ours.

….Unless you’re headless….

*insert evil laugh*

Catwoman Catwoman #1
By; Judd Winick, Guillem March (Art & Cover)

Description
Meet Catwoman. She's addicted to the night. Addicted to shiny objects. Addicted to Batman. Most of all, Catwoman is addicted to danger. She can't help herself, and the truth is – she doesn't want to. She's good at being bad, and very bad at being good.

My 2 Cents
More trouble, yummy trouble from our favorite little kitty cat. So far, this is the beginning of a good new title series. Batman is a guest in this one.. always so ..um.. concern over our favorite kitty cat. *winks* so yeah.. yess! I am sointo this one already =^_^=

Red Hood and the Outlaws Red Hood and the Outlaws #1
By; Scott Lobdell; Kenneth Rocafort (Art & Cover)

Description

No sooner has Batman's former sidekick, Jason Todd, put his past as the Red Hood behind him than he finds himself cornered by a pair of modern day outlaws: Green Arrow's rejected sidekick Arsenal, the damaged soldier of fortune, and the alien Starfire, a former prisoner of intergalactic war who won't be chained again.

As a loner, Jason has absolutely no interest in this motley crew of outlaws. So what's he going to do when they choose the Red Hood as their leader?

My 2 Cents
New comic series and it’s looking very promising. But it’s just the first issue. So far it is pretty much read worthy and subscribe worthy. Great colors, and illustrations are colorful and drool worthy. In a nutshell, check it out!

Suicide Girls Vol. 1 Suicide Girls, Vol. 1
by Steve Niles, Missy Suicide, Brea Grant, Zane Grant, Cameron Stewart

Summary Via Goodreads
Sexy, subversive, and seriously bad ass, the SuicideGirls bring their unique brand to comics! Caught in a near-future defined by its rigid conformity and persecution of women, the SuicideGirls are the last hope for freedom. Can they take down the techno-religious cult, Way*of*Life, or will they die trying?

My 2 Cents
Wow. Girls Power! Girls Rules! Sexy! Honestly. I can’t go past that, and that’s all you have from me now. =^_^=
