Blog News

It’s the end of the year and most of us bloggers are into cleaning up our blogs. I am also in no exception to do that. At the moment.. I just started on my vacation and I thought, well.. time to clean this blog up! So basically I’m doing my own mini Bloggiesta. *I can’t wait till the real one!* *hangs head* It’s sad only my blogger peers actually knows what that means…

Here’s a few I be playing around.
♦ Transferring my old book reviews here from my old dead blog…
♦ Catch up on my Blog Reviews
♦ Clean up Book reviews
♦ Clean up Side Bio
♦ Update Disclosures
♦ Clean up tags
♦ Post up lists
♦ Print out new batch of  Business Cards
♦ Update Books challenges
♦ Update Review Via Authors
♦ Update To Be Read Montage (or try to)

Wish me luck!

#Bloggiesta Mini Challenge: Organize them Books!

blogiesta Jenn’s Bookshelves is hosting this mini challenge and there aren’t much guidelines to join. But heck.. something fill it up I guess. Here are a few info on how I organize my books.

How do I keep up with what I have in my collection?
I found great sites just for tracking my books at Goodreads & Librarything. Both of which are accessible by my phone and easily maintain. I occasionally download my list to keep up and do some manual stuff through my computer via Excel. In that file, I have it organized much more to ‘Price’, ‘Author’, ‘Title’, ‘Series’, ‘Genre’, ‘Year Acquired’, 'Copy' (subdivide to ARC, Review, Borrowed, Bought). I must admit I haven’t been very nice with this excel list.

Bookshelves organization?
Physical Bookshelves
.

I have a few places where I store my books:
  • 2 book shelves
  • 5 big Storage containers,
  • 6 delivery boxes (I have yet to unpack)
  • a couple of boxes of books for garagesale
  • my external hard drives.
Divided by Fiction, Non-Fiction & Reference. Series are all grouped together.  My ARC & Review books are all placed together on a separate shelf so I don’t get them mixed up with my books.

Online Database (GR, LT, Excel). My system is very much OCD-ed. Tags are my organization best friend and my enemy roll in one.

  • TBR, Read, Wishlist
  • Fiction, Non-Fiction & Reference
  • Sub-Divide:  Horror, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Literary, etc.
  • Author, Title, Year acquired,  Publicist, Country, Arc, Review… etc…

On the 2nd day… #Bloggiesta

Before I start, I thought I should make an update from last night. These are the things I’ve been tackling on:
  • Creating Challenge Progress bars. This was toughy! My maths were all wonky… Very wonky and all over the place. But I manage nicely enough.
  • Clean up my sidebars reading challenge. Merged 3 of the some what similar challenges to minimize space. I’m still figuring out what to do with the rest.
  • Creating cheat sheets. Yes this was a bit of time consuming. Figuring out how to clean up my cheat sheets for my reviews and meme. I need to figure out who host what nowadays due to blog tours lol
  • And saw a bit of a monkey visitor in the progress. o.0

I have to mention there’s a monkey in the neighborhood at the moment. Thought it would be a cute innuendo. =D

Bloggiesta Time!

blogiesta Natasha @ Mawbooks is hosting  her annual Bloggiesta which runs from January 21 – 23, 2011. What’s Bloggiesta? is an event most book bloggers would look forward to as in excuse of housekeeping. It’s an opportunity to sit down, discuss on ideas and resources for things regular bloggers would find hard to do during other times. I, of course,  find this as an opportunity to ‘housekeep’ my When She Reads blog, and among other things. *creeps around for nachos recipes from her fellow bloggers*.

Some of you may be asking what is Bloggiesta? In short, it’s a blogging marathon.  A opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing. Our awesome mascot Pedro (Plan. Edit. Develop. Review. Organize) is ready to break out the nachos, enchiladas, drinks, mariachi music and whack a pinata or two!  It’s nothing short of an awesome fiesta!
Check out #bloggiesta in Twitter for fellow bloggers updates, conversations and fun! Of course and occasional Tips & Tricks!

My list if projects for Bloggiesta:

  • Cleaning up "Review Books" Page
  • Updating the About Me page.
  • Write backup posts for rainy day.
  • Work up on series posts.
  • Write up those articles I have in my notebooks.
  • Clean up my template posts
  • Create cheat sheets
  • Update my Gravatar
  • Make fresh business cards!
  • Update my GoodReads, Librarything,
  • Create challenge progress bars
  • Brainstorm weekly post
  • Clean up side bars.
  • Update publisher links
  • Update Review Policy
  • List up books I wish to read (good luck Lisa! Teehee!)
  • and other things I can’t think of atm

Bloggiesta: Wrapped

Bloggiesta June 11-13, 2010
hosted at: Maw Books

Well.. it's over... sadly.. In overall, I could only participate for like 2 days since work and thunderstorms were getting on my case. I do wish this event is longer than just 3 days, cause I feel like I have my work cut out on me for my reading blog. But heck, I will try and do my best to fix them this week or so.

Ok! let's recapped what I have done so far.
  • Updated my About me page
  • Added a Contact Me form
  • 21 worth of pre published post
  • A few TBR is now catalogue for my use in Goodreads.
Ahh yes.. I didn't get to do much I see. I guess I haveto concentrate on cleaning up my blog still with or without Bloggiesta. The up side is I am able to meet other blogger/reviewers around the world and we exchange ideas and tips with each others. Love you all and Thanks!

  • Entered parts of my pile of TBR books and that just a few, considering I have bunch on them in hand still. o.o
Today I would be dealign with my Cheat Sheet. Hopefully....
