TV Candy: Elementary (2012)

Elementary Elementary

Casts:
Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes
Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson

Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare – a sober companion, Dr. Watson. A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. Holmes resumes his work as a police consultant in New York City and Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator. With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New York solving crimes, it’s simple deduction that he’s going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it’s elementary that it’s a job for Watson.

My 2 Cents
Honestly said, I didn’t really look into what the heck this tv series was about until I have watched it. To my pleasant surprise, it turned out to be another rendition of the famous Sherlock Holmes… with a female Watson. It’s a new concept for me but so far I’m loving it.

I have to admit, Lucy Liu was the reason why I actually took the interest to read it. Other than the fact I love Sherlock Holmes hehehe I hope this will progress nicely.

TV Series Treat

Let me be one of the first to say I’m in Doctor Who’s withdrawal until when autumn will be finally here. Can you believe that cliffhanger?! I’m inbetween “I knew it!” and “Ew”. If anybody else is like me, Torchwood is coming! So yay!!! But of course the stale empty slot of nothing to watch in between….. is god damn annoying. But here’s a couple of series I found, either debuting to watch.

MTV Teen Wolf MTV Teen Wolf
MTV’s Teen Wolf
Starring: Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Dylan O’Brien

Check out MTV’s Teen Wolf yet? If you’re into Twilight, The vampire diaries or the original Michael J Fox (yes, yes, I ♥ him) “Teen Wolf”; watch this for a try. It’s not like the original version, but it’s do fine. The story line goes like the usual, teen get bit by a werewolf. He fell in love with a girl at school, who turns out to be a Hunter’s daughter. Life sucks. But it’s the drama. I’m just surprise, it’s showing in MTV instead of a “normal” tv channels.

Switched At Birth Switched at Birth
Switched at Birth
Starring: Katie Leclerc, Vanessa Marano, Sean Berdy

This series is about two families realizing after raising their daughters to their teens, their daughters has been switched at birth. The show focus how these two families tries to overcome this discovery, especially when one of them is deaf. It’s a good series, if you like the drama. One of these families is kind of selfish imho.. I feel sorry how the deaf girl is usually lost when they are in the middle of conversation in her biological family just because they can’t discipline themselves to face her while talking and then get dumbfound or startled when she suddenly ask about something they have already covered the minute before. The tension is soo tight in the series! >.<

There are a few others I could tell you about. but until the next time =^_^=

TV Review: Can’t Buy Me Love (TVB)

1
Title: Can’t Buy Me Love
Starring: Charmaine Sheh, Moses Chan, Linda Chung, Wong Ho Yin, Fala Chen, Ma Kwok Mingm Kwan Kuk Ying, Lee Heung Kam
Production: TVB
On Air: Astro On Demand (921)
Language: Cantonese & Mandarin (Subtitles provided)

Princess Chew Yeung (Charmaine Sheh) was very reluctant to marry a Tibetan Royal Family, so one of the Emperor’s concubines concocted a plan, so she could duck out of it, but marrying her off to Kam Du Luk (Moses Chan), the illed, silly, and humorous 2nd son of the Kam Family (owner of a gold store) Chew Yeung is really proud of herself and regardless having good quality personality, she is characteristically annoying to the Kam family, because she likes to put her suspicions all out in the open without realizing her actions would give them so much trouble and heart breaks. Then there’s Szeto Ngan-Ping, her royal handmaiden who is also her best friend, quite a haughty character, disregarding anyone. Chew Yeung also have 4 sisters who don’t really like her because she happens to be Daddy’s girl. Fala’s character puts what I call spice in this series. She can be annoying and brow rising, but, I look forward to her scenes as well.

What can I say? it’s Charmaine Sheh! I love her to bits. I will watch whatever series she is in, especially if it’s period times genre. She could make me laugh and cry with her. I love her attire in this one. I love her love-hate relationship with her on screen husband. Moses is just .. “wow” he’s funny when he just goes out like a light and faint every so often in this series. but um.. he looks all umm.. blank and slow when he was trying to look smart but actually just drew to a blank. One thing for sure, I refuse to miss watching this! lol i love the humorous stuff, conspiracy and the seriousness in all the right amount in this. It’s rare for me to actually watch a period series that has royalties and humor mixed together. It blended quite well. The soundtrack is beautiful, but honestly, it’s doesn’t feel fit in this series. o.0

TV Review: Siti Kelembai Legenda @ TV3

1 Title: Siti Kelembai (20 Eps)
Series: Lagenda
Starring: Liyana Shamsudin, Fizo Omar, Amran Omar, Farah Lyana, Jasmin Hamid, Eizlan Yusof
Production: MIG Productions
Air on: TV3 (4.30pm) & TV9 (8:30pm)
Country: Malaysia

A modernized adaptation from the legend of Dewa Kelembai (Deity), so far this series is looking catchy, teen clique, humorous, and mm.. there’s one thing I can’t put my finger on. It’s about a girl name Siti Ratna, who happens to be the grand daughter of Dewa Kelembai. Her mother however is goign through a curse and Siti Ratna has no idea she still exists.

Siti Ratna is a what the west would call a demi-goddess, her mother was a full deity and her father is just a human being. Regardless inheriting her mother beautiful looks, she grew up with a messy complexion, perhaps because she doesn’t have a female parental figure in her life. In school, Siti Ratna earns the title, “Queen Day Dreamer”, because she tends to space out and day dream way too many times, it has become a habit. As it turns out, she has come to the age where her powers has surface, and she is having trouble controlling it, since she keeps cursing people who pisses her accidentally. Now she’s learning to control her powers with help from another elderly deity.

My Thoughts: This series is silly and funny. It’s like watching an Ugly Duckling + Cinderella all roll into one. Honestly the only ones I recognize in this series are Jasmin Hamid and Eizlan Yusof. the rest are completely new to me. The storyline is ok, plots are good, enough for me to rush home from work to watch it. (we don’t have NTV7, TV9, 8tv in astro anymore in Brunei, so, I can only catch it on TV3) As a lover of this genre, I say, it’s a nice job. I get emo watching Trisya (classmate) because she being such a brat!
