#Bloggiesta Mini Challenge: Organize them Books!

blogiesta Jenn’s Bookshelves is hosting this mini challenge and there aren’t much guidelines to join. But heck.. something fill it up I guess. Here are a few info on how I organize my books.

How do I keep up with what I have in my collection?
I found great sites just for tracking my books at Goodreads & Librarything. Both of which are accessible by my phone and easily maintain. I occasionally download my list to keep up and do some manual stuff through my computer via Excel. In that file, I have it organized much more to ‘Price’, ‘Author’, ‘Title’, ‘Series’, ‘Genre’, ‘Year Acquired’, 'Copy' (subdivide to ARC, Review, Borrowed, Bought). I must admit I haven’t been very nice with this excel list.

Bookshelves organization?
Physical Bookshelves
.

I have a few places where I store my books:
  • 2 book shelves
  • 5 big Storage containers,
  • 6 delivery boxes (I have yet to unpack)
  • a couple of boxes of books for garagesale
  • my external hard drives.
Divided by Fiction, Non-Fiction & Reference. Series are all grouped together.  My ARC & Review books are all placed together on a separate shelf so I don’t get them mixed up with my books.

Online Database (GR, LT, Excel). My system is very much OCD-ed. Tags are my organization best friend and my enemy roll in one.

  • TBR, Read, Wishlist
  • Fiction, Non-Fiction & Reference
  • Sub-Divide:  Horror, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Literary, etc.
  • Author, Title, Year acquired,  Publicist, Country, Arc, Review… etc…

  1. I use Goodreads to keep a check on what I've got and what I want. That's when I started writing reviews too before I became a blogger. I think it's such a great service, and free too! So handy to use when you're out and about and shopping for books if you have the app on your phone.

  2. Sounds like you have making progress and getting organized. I have a system that works for me, I don't like to keep books in the house so I get rid of them quickly (books I will not read and have already read).

  3. Ahh my GR is like this:
+ Read, To Read, To Buy, To Re-Read, Currently Reading, To Check out
+ Every Genre you can think of
    + Author Name
    + series Name
+ Special Keywords (Ninja, Martial Arts, etc)
+ extra (Autographed, Blog I reviewed for, Own, ARC, Book Style)

I'm an OCD Tagger myself XD
