Booking Through Thursday: Funniest book you’ve read recently

The most recent humorous book I have encountered would be the Roscoe Riley Series by Katherine Applegate. This is a story of a boy who always (as far as I've encountered, started a story while he was sent to the corner, over a punishment of breaking the rules. It's either this or that. Pretty much reminds me how children thinks. He managed to get through typical event and turn it into an adventure where he always ended up in trouble.

I managed to find this series by accident. I was looking for some short reads and find it to be interesting enough

Lisa Reads ... Her Own Ultimate Reading List

Inspired by Nancy Pearl, I thought I should compiled my own list of memorable books that have touch my life or pretty much made it to my favorite pile of books. It would be unwise of me as a reader to don't have any and I guess, if you were every curious to which books that has made it to my 'favourite' list then here they are...

Not in any particular order...

Hungry; by Alethea Eason

I'd decided to read this book, when it's nagging me at Amazon.com as being in the No. 1 for young adults section for about several weeks. The sypnosis was quite intriguing for me and so I gave in to have a copy of my own. If you love stories of stranded people... in this case a family of aliens who posed as humans, and live their life as one (remember cone heads), I guess you would like to read this one. This aliens favorite food would be human essence. Their child, have come to an age where she has to prove her worthiness in the family and the bad part is, she has to drain her human best friend to prove herself to the family.

The Sunday Salon - Reading and then some.

The Sunday Salon.com "Who reads these days?"

The famous line I heard from most these days, from most of the community. Living in Brunei, reading has pretty much become one of the least favorite hobbies around. I guess it doesn't just apply to just Brunei but, I can't help noticing living in my district, it's pretty much hard to get nice leisure books.

I'm talking about bookstores that sells bestseller people, classics too.we barely have good bookstores around in my part of the district. I myself have have to go to the capital just to get my share of the literature.

Teh other day I was sitting about while waiting for my order in some resturant, reading one of the Twilight book, I notice, people starring at me like I'm some what of a weirdo. I must admit I'm a bit weird at some point, but reading in public is the least of my problems.

As a librarian, it's regretful to see that the teenagers these days have no idea who Tom Sawyer is, or Alice in Wonderland (of course they know what I was talking about now, since Tim Burton is making a movie out of it now - comign next year people). They have no idea who Oliver Twist is either. Sad.

Speaking on that note, ever notice how we know most of the classics but, the golden question is, does any of us actually read them? Do we know about it from movies, the radio, the cliches or was it just something you know about.

Ever since I was young, Oliver Twist, the Three Musketeers, Alice in Wonderland and Sherlock Holmes have become part of my favorite literature. But of course, back then I was reading the children version of the literature. A few months ago, I found the Penguin publications and damn those are thick! I remembered reading really thin versions of it and I felt left out. Then, I caught myself thinking. Have I actually read those books properly? I guess not. cause I ended up wanting to get a copy to read wondering what I've missed.

The Serial Reader

Ever since I was a kid, I have favored reading books in series more rather than just a stand alone novel, hence my reluctant to break out from my usual pattern and read an independent book. But nevertheless I did know how to break out of that and it's a good thing as well.

These are the series I'm working on. Some of which I have started, found accidentally in the middle of the series or I just have the books in my possession which I like to read through. This list will grow though. I have taken the liking to us Lists of Best to keep my progress.

Books I'm interested to read someday (And many more to come)

1. Gutman, Dan - My Weird Book Daze
2. Osborne, Mary Pope - Magic Tree House
3. CSI
4. Ghost Whisperer
5. Smallville
6. Star Trek (all)
7. Star Wars
8. Supernatural

He began the kiss, and he had to end it; I clung to him, ignoring the tittes and the throat-clearing in the audience. Finally, his hands retrained my face and he pulled back - too soon - to look at me.
